August 14,18,30 and September 19 AMLD Board Meetings
Greetings Neighbors!
As we transition from summer into fall and settle into the busy back-to-school season, life feels especially full! Between family schedules, changing routines, and community activities, there’s been plenty to keep everyone on their toes. Our neighborhood has also been buzzing with projects and planning, and there’s even more to look forward to. Below is a quick recap of what’s been happening over the past couple of months and a look at what’s ahead!
A Year in Review
For the 2024–2025 fiscal year, the Board has been conducting a thorough review of our district’s operations and long-term needs. We’ve audited our parks and facilities, evaluated our operational budget, and discussed ways to strengthen services and sustainability. All of these insights have helped shape the decisions and priorities for our upcoming 2025–2026 fiscal year.
Capital Improvement Projects
During our year of review, the Board identified several projects that required more immediate attention to maintain the safety and quality of our community spaces. These include a new roof for the community center, El Salido Trail bridge replacement, parking lot repairs, trail washout restoration, and park equipment replacement. You may have already noticed improvements underway at our community center as we prepare for early voting. These efforts are all part of our broader Capital Improvement Projects, which focuses on making our facilities and parks more sustainable, accessible, and enjoyable for years to come.
Annual Budget for 2025-2026
Our fiscal year runs from October 1 through September 30 each year, and the approved budget for the upcoming year is now available for you to review here. This budget not only outlines our yearly operational costs but also includes funding for our Capital Improvement Projects, which address key updates and maintenance throughout the district. We encourage all residents to take a look and see how these investments support the continued growth and sustainability of our community.
Tax Rate Election
Did you know that we are having a Tax Rate Election on November 4th? This election is one of the ways we are working to address and reduce our budget deficit while continuing to maintain and improve district services. Throughout our review process, the Board has carefully considered how to best support our community’s long-term needs in a sustainable way. We encourage all residents to learn more by visiting our Election Page, stopping by the district office to get a brochure, or reading the October Newsletter for detailed information about the tax rate and how it may impact you.
Town Hall
Mark your calendars for our Town Hall on Wednesday, October 15, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the Community Center. It’s a great opportunity to talk directly with the Board of Directors about our Capital Improvement Projects, the upcoming tax rate election, and the district budget and initiatives. This informal meeting encourages conversation, feedback, and questions from residents. We’ll also have light refreshments and tables featuring community organizations to help you stay informed and connected.
Solid Waste
The Solid Waste Committee is currently working through the RFP (Request for Proposal) process for our Solid Waste contracts, an important step in evaluating potential vendors for future waste and recycling services. The goal of this process is to ensure residents continue to receive reliable, high-quality service at the best possible cost. Stay tuned for updates in the coming months as the committee moves closer to final selections and service improvements.
Tree Grant Partnership
The Board, in partnership with AMNA, is applying for another Urban Tree Grant to further our goal of a greener community. The previous grant allowed us to plant trees that are already making a visible difference in our parks and trails. We’re thrilled to continue this work and explore new opportunities to enhance our neighborhood’s natural beauty and environmental health.
