October 9th AMLD Board Meeting & Town Hall Meeting
Greetings Neighbors!
We are finally getting a taste of real Fall weather, and it has been wonderful to see so many neighbors out enjoying the cooler days. October was a full month for the District, with a productive Board Meeting, an engaging Town Hall, and several projects gaining momentum. Below is a recap of what’s been happening and a look at what’s ahead for our neighborhood.
October 9th Board Meeting Highlights
We had three residents speak during Citizen Comment. One resident requested renaming the Senior Center the “Fred Grampp Senior Center” in honor of his contributions to the District and shared that over 30 residents have signed a petition. This item will be on the November agenda, so stay tuned for updates.
The AMNA President shared gratitude with the Board for backing National Night Out. A total of 15 parties took place around the neighborhood. It truly felt like a community-wide celebration!
We also heard from a representative from Texas Disposal Systems, who shared why he believes their proposal best meets the District’s needs. The Board is scheduled to vote on the District’s Solid Waste Service Provider at the November meeting.
Tax Rate Election
Thank you to everyone who came out to vote in the Tax Rate Election. The District requested a one-cent increase per $100 of property valuation to help address aging infrastructure throughout the neighborhood. While the proposition did not pass, we sincerely appreciate the community’s engagement and participation.
The Board will canvass the results at the November meeting and begin discussing next steps. We encourage you to attend and be part of the conversation as we move forward with optimism and a continued commitment to improving our neighborhood.

Solid Waste
Three solid waste companies submitted proposals this Fall. The Board will vote on this item at the November meeting. If you are interested in how this decision will shape future trash and recycling services, we welcome you to attend on Monday.
Urban Tree Grant
We’re excited to renew our partnership with AMNA as we apply for another Urban Tree Grant. For this application, we’re targeting irrigated areas so newly planted trees can establish more easily. Thank you to AMNA for their steady support and teamwork.
Wildflower Areas
Have you noticed the new wildflower zones popping up around the neighborhood? These areas have been marked off so seeds can take root during the Fall and bloom beautifully in the Spring. Some spots may look a little weedy at first, but by March and April we should begin seeing colorful pops of native wildflowers. We’re excited to pilot several locations this year.
Town Hall Recap
Thank you to all who attended our Town Hall! It was great to meet new faces and reconnect with longtime neighbors. We were honored to host representatives from AMNA, District 6, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Police Department, Safe Routes to School, and 183 Mobility, along with several of our dedicated committee volunteers. Our full Board was also present.
During the event, Director Watford, Chair of the Solid Waste Committee, shared an update on the RFP process, and Director Hogle presented a “State of the District” overview covering achievements, challenges, and future priorities.
We are grateful to everyone who came out and to the residents who continue to support and strengthen our community.
