November 17th AMLD Board Meeting
Greetings Neighbors!
I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by friends, family, and plenty of good food. As the holiday season unfolds, I hope you’re finding time to pause, savor the moments, and enjoy the togetherness this time of year brings. At our November 17th meeting, the board covered a number of important updates and had productive discussions about several ongoing projects. We anticipate another full agenda at this Thursday’s meeting, and we hope you will be able to join us as we continue moving forward on key initiatives across the District.
November 17th Board Meeting Highlights
We had one resident speak during Citizen Comment regarding the proposal to rename the District’s Senior Center. He shared additional context about the request to honor former board member Fred Grampp by naming the center after him. We appreciate residents taking the time to share their thoughts and engage with the Board on topics that impact the community.
New Tax Rate
The Board adopted the new tax rate of $0.124340 per $100 of valuation, which is required following the failure of the tax rate election. Although the result wasn’t what many anticipated, our dedication to managing the District’s resources responsibly remains unchanged. The Board will be looking at reforecasting the budget at tomorrow’s meeting. We appreciate the community’s participation, feedback, and support as we work together to plan for the future.
Solid Waste
The Board voted to accept the proposal from Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) as our new solid waste provider. We encourage residents to visit our website for the most current information about the changeover from Republic Services to TDS. Additional details and resources will be shared on Monday, December 15th to help everyone prepare for the transition smoothly.
City Medians and Sign/Entrance Beautification Projects & Senior Center Renaming Proposal
Discussion on both of these agenda items were postponed due to the absence of a full Board. They are scheduled to be revisited at tomorrow’s meeting. We are excited about the potential improvements these projects could bring and look forward to thoughtful discussion and community input as they move ahead.
Urban Tree Grant
The Board thanked the Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association (AMNA) for applying for the Urban Tree Grant. In support of the grant, the District will be conducting an irrigation audit to ensure our systems can maintain new plantings successfully. These collaborative efforts continue to strengthen our parks and natural spaces.
Wildflower Areas
All six wildflower areas have now been planted! We encourage everyone to check the District website for maps, details, and flower information. These areas will add seasonal color and a pollinator habitat throughout the year, and we cannot wait for residents to see them flourish.

Our community calendar is full of engaging events and programs designed to bring joy, connection, and enrichment to residents of all ages. From seasonal celebrations to hands-on activities, we’re proud to offer something special for everyone.
